Made by F.W. Spacke Machine in 1907, I am an antique compressor. My founder, Fred Spacke was born in 1872, according to his obituary, “having a natural mechanical talent, perfected mechanical contrivances in the power line, inventing things like steam engine governors and speed pulleys”. I was part of a large operation that produced all kinds of equipment in the early 1900’s. My history can be found on line at http://spacke.com/
I don’t remember how I ended up in Jackson MI, it’s all a blur now, but I was discovered by heir Tim Spacke on E-bay – reminiscent to Kunte Kinte of Roots! He wanted me back in the family in California so he searched and found me. My previous owner took to me to Jackson Pack N Ship for the trip. There the very nice ladies strapped me down to a pallet and I was loaded onto a freight truck heading down the highway, looking for adventure.
Sending your kid to college can be an emotional hurdle, but it shouldn’t be a hassle!
Jackson Pack N Ship makes getting your kid to college is easy. Shipping in boxes is a lot easier and faster and more reliable than having them jammed into the back of a friend’s car. So the first tip is to contact Jackson Pack N Ship and have your boxes shipped directly to your dorm or apartment. Let the UPS or FedEx driver to the heavy lifting. All you do is open boxes and unpack.
Trying to get everything together for dorm life is a challenge. Inevitably, we miss something that will be needed. Pack well ahead of time and will get most of the items into boxes and ready to go. It gives a window of time to make a mental checklist and figure out what is missing. In addition to the tip about shipping your college stuff to school, here’s a short list of the top 10 things that may be helpful in the dorm, and which are frequently forgotten:
Flashlight (great for reading at night or finding things in the dark)
Toolkit (Screwdriver, hammer, things like that. You never know when you may need them)
Duct Tape (There is a whole culture about things you can do with duct tape. Suffice it to say, it always comes in handy!)
Febreeze (Hey, we are talking college kids, right. ‘Nuff said!)
First Aid Kit (Bandages, neosporin, bactine, essentials)
Iron (May be used for toasting bread in addition to ironing. What kid irons?)
Instant Hem Ribbon (Yep, this is why they needed the iron – easier than sewing for a quick repair)
Needle and thread (Why? Buttons!)
Underbed bin (Great place for additional storage)
Laptop Lock (Yes, they do get stolen – better to be prepared than not)
Got a Buffet Table, Chair, Dresser, or Desk that you want from here to there? We are ideal for pieces that are too small for a moving company – too large for a UPS or FedEx service but it’s just right for us! Folks who sell furniture love us.
Families who have generational furniture to pass along love us a lot.
How does it work? After careful consideration, we figure out the packaging needed then we palletize firmly and securely, (see also Cargo page). Palletizing has a unique feature that adds safety to anything shipped; the item stays in the upright position the entire trip. Pallets are loaded onto the truck to make their way to final designation. When the shipment arrives to the terminal near the delivery point, the recipient is given a call to arrange for delivery. The truck arrives, backs into the driveway and unloads the pallet. Drivers are usually kind to move the shipment into a garage before leaving. The recipient waves good bye and unpacks the very cool furniture.

A life size antique wood hand-carved Indian made its way inside Jackson Pack N Ship. As a rare piece, his presence was needed at the Spiritual Journey Tribal Gallery in Stanton CA. Hitch-hiking was out of the question so he made his way to our store for packing and shipping, a lot less hassle for him.
During his short stay in the store, he endured a lot of looks and stares. He was anatomically correct so an appropriate looking scarf was used around his waist giving him an authentic Tarzan look. Although he didn’t say much, he was angry looking – very angry. In his hand is the head of the last person that crossed his path. He seems to be saying, “I can’t live without Jackson Pack N Ship!” A couple of weeks later, he made it to California safe and sound, albeit a little stuffy for him. He was delivered strapped on a pallet securely wrapped in a well cushioned box. May be there are other wood-carvings in the gallery on exhibit to keep him company there.
Need to return an online purchase with a provided UPS or FedEx prepaid label? Each different type of label must go into the right carrier shipping system, UPS or FedEx, not to mention the USPS. Which office store chain does UPS and which has FedEx?
I can never get it straight, so why should you?
As an authorized ship center for UPS, USPS and FedEx, Jackson Pack N Ship! is the only place in town that accepts all brands of pre-paid return labeled packages. Really! JPNS is an independent ship center, which means that you are free from having to drive to separate locations for each type label. 3 trips made into 1 at Jackson Pack N Ship!
Things to know about pre-paid return labels:
The online store will usually deduct a fee from your account to pay for the shipping. The fee can be as small as $4.95, however some fees are $8.95 or more. Be sure to know what fee you will be charged. JPNS is keen to see where you may be over paying and will suggest an alternative for you if one exists.
It is highly recommended that you retain the tracking number of the return label just in case the online store doesn’t credit your account and claims that they did not receive your return. Prepaid labeled packages do not appear in the database at JPNS as a sale so we cannot save and retrieve the tracking number for these labels if lost. The tracking number can provide you with valuable information if you need to prove delivery.
As with any returned merchandise, include a copy of the sales invoice or packing ship to identify you as the returning customer.

Skip the long line to check your bag at the airport
Save money by never paying unexpected luggage fees?
Bypass the wait at the luggage carousel for your suitcase to finally appear?
Never wait for TSA to finish rummaging through your stuff?
Be free of worry that someone at the airport walks off with your luggage?
Smile while everyone else crams luggage in the overhead compartment
From presentations to signage and more, have everything waiting for you upon your arrival so you can focus on your business.
Start your vacation off on the right note when you ship your luggage it is already waiting for you when you reach your destination. Let us pack and ship your skis, golf clubs, strollers and more.
You can generally expect shipping ahead to be more secure and you’re far less likely to have your bag “mishandled” (that’s the fun word the Department of Transportation uses) by your airline or the TSA.
Just so you are informed: In most cases, shipping your luggage is a little more expensive than checking it with your airline. When comparing the value of the benefits, most travelers choose to pay for shipping if it means a more pleasant trip.
Do This Before You Ship Ahead:
To get the best deal on shipping your luggage, you should consider using ground service, which mean shipping a few days in advance.
Before you ship, you should contact the hotel first to make sure they will accept luggage and can store it securely until your arrival, recommends Sally Davenport, a FedEx spokeswoman.
Also, some of your items may never get off the ground. Aerosol sprays, perfume, cologne and nail polish remover are all considered dangerous goods and can’t be shipped.
At Jackson Pack N Ship, you can have the advantage of using your personal golf clubs wherever you play. We make it easy for your clubs to meet you anywhere you’re going including hotels, vacation homes and even the golf course. Just bring in your clubs, the entire set if you wish. Our trained staff at JPNS professionally packs clubs and accessories.
We’ve Got The Right sized box.
Other golf club packaging services only offer the larger 15x15x48 box that cost much more to ship. An average sized golf club bag with a set of clubs usually fits in a 10x10x48 sized box – a box that Jackson Pack N Ship carries in stock always. You can easily save $40 by using the right sized box.
Our No Clink Packing
calls for clubs to be shrink wrapped so the heads do not move and hit against each other. Any extra room in the box is filled with paper or some other type of cushioning – we avoid using styro-foam peanuts for packing golf clubs – they can be messy when unpacking and re-packing.
Our Plan Calls For Easy return
We print your return label. Take it with you or pack inside the golf club box. We can include a spool of tape in the shipment for you. When departing for home, simply place the golf clubs in the same box, tape it up, place the return label over the old one and the hotel concierge should take care of the rest. Hotels easily stage your shipment with others for the driver to pick up or if you prefer, drop off your package at the nearest location on your way to the airport.
“Traveling and playing golf go hand-in-hand. Many golfers refuse to travel with their clubs because of the horror stories from disgruntled passengers. The thought of a lucky or irreplaceable clubs broken to entire sets disappearing into the vortex of unclaimed baggage can drive a golfer to stay to his local courses. So many fear airlines will misdirect their prized sets that they refuse to travel with them unless it’s by car. There are plenty of ways to ship clubs that can keep them safe and ensure they make it to the intended destination.” – taken from from Golflink.com
“I ship mine to Texas from Oregon all the time. Load up a bag with the clubs, shoes, balls and all accessories, and then ship it out. My bag with all of the above weighs in at about 50 pounds”

Here are a few Life Hacks for the Best Delivery:
It is best to ship perishables, such as baked goods, meat or fruit, on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday during the holiday season.
Whenever possible, ship perishables for next-day delivery to minimize time in transit. Avoid shipping perishables on a Thursday or Friday, or else the package may suffer extreme temperatures for as many as four days.
Keep items refrigerated or frozen until just prior to bringing it in to Jackson Pack N Ship. Bring in a few frozen gel packs with the goodies to keep them cool. We may be able to place the item in our in-store refrigerator for storage until courier pick-up.
Freeze cakes, including cheesecakes and layer cakes, before shipping to keep it solid. Wrap the frozen cake in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil to help keep it cold.Despite precautions, icing may smear and decorations may become crushed in transit.
Place individually wrapped cookies in a plastic container.
Let Us Pack Heirloom Dishes – You Won’t Be Disappointed!
Have heirloom crystal or china to pass on to your grandchildren?
Even when they live across the country, there is no reason to lose hope. We specialize in packaging very fragile pieces for shipping even if they are going 2000 miles away. Jackson Pack N Ship has strict standards for packaging and shipping very fragile and valuable fine china. We require our packers to individually bubble wrap each piece before placing them in a box cushioned with packing peanuts. This box is again placed in a larger container which is intended to take the brunt of all handling, shock and vibration while in transit. We refer to this packaging technique as double boxing.
If there is concern about transporting your china or crystal to Jackson Pack N Ship, we can help. We are happy to pack dishes at your home and transport them to our shop for shipping. We don’t want anything to get in the way of passing on a family legacy.

Jackson Pack N Ship has been offering our services to artists, galleries, museums and auction houses since 1997. We provide personal service to our clients including custom packaging, crating and shipping these items with special care. We know that family heirlooms and works of art are precious and deserve the most attention for the safest delivery. We spare no packing material or technique because we understand what packages endure during the shipping process.
Our packaging technique for framed or unframed art:
.Any item containing glass, such as framed art and pictures, receives a layer of glass mask to protect the print, photograph or artwork that lay underneath and layer of scratch preventative called furniture wrap is applied. Furniture wrap is a combination of thick tissue paper and wrap designed to prevent abrasion and scratching. It is used primarily for fine wood and critical finish surfaces.
Next is a layer of styro-board that is sized and applied using stretch-wrap around the piece to withstand any mishandling event that might occur. The piece is surrounded with a double-walled corrugated container or a crate. We have in-stock picture boxes for the most common artwork sizes but we are prepared to build any size double-walled corrugated container or crate necessary. Lastly, the space left between the carefully wrapped artwork and container is filled using packing peanuts. Nothing should be loose when finally packed for shipment.
Do This Before You Ship
Our packaging is exceptional for protecting against damage. But in the unlikely event of damage or loss, Jackson Pack N Ship has value coverage available to its customers to cover the value of the artwork. A few things we ask our customers to do before shipping highly valuable pieces:
Keep purchase receipts or appraisals as evidence of value.
If there is no evidence indicating value, seek to have it documented in some fashion such as a quotation for similar item, publication or appraisal.
Take several pictures of the item to document its condition.
Need to send baby shower gifts to your daughter living in Italy? Or how about sending a military serviceman a care package? Customs forms can be complicated and challenging. No package will be delivered without the form completed correctly. At Jackson Pack N Ship, we simplify the process by completing the forms for you and making international shipping as easy as mailing a letter.
Customs forms aren’t the only head-ache when shipping internationally. There are specific and varying item restrictions for sending your package overseas. Reading a list of rules and regulations can be overwhelming. If the rules are not followed, it could mean long delays in delivery.
Here are a few general but helpful pointers:
1. Batteries must be removed because electronic devices can inadvertently go off while in transit. They just don’t want things ticking, vibrating, our making any kind of noise like clocks or radios. Other prohibited items include hazardous or flammable material, (including cologne), aerosol cans, firearms, furs, perishables, plants, tobacco, plants and liquor to name a few. Avoid sending anything that will melt such as chocolates. Also, it is recommended to avoid sending very fragile items since the shipping process may take multiple truck loads and unloads increasing the risk of damage. Pornographic material is illegal in some countries.
2. International shipping can be expensive depending upon the speed of service, distance, weight and package dimensions. Of the factors that determine the rate, weight and size are very important. When possible, select lightweight items for shipping. Packages less than 4 pounds are the most economical to send. Keep in mind also, that box and packing material adds to the total weight.
3. Military shipping rates are the same as domestic rates since APO and FPO zip codes are to military post offices located within the U.S. Military post offices distribute mail and packages to overseas personnel as a free service, however custom forms must be completed as usual.
Electronics can be scary and tricky items to pack and ship. Did you know that the courier industry has specific packaging requirements for these items? They will deny any and all claims for damage when packaging is not to standard. When you bring your equipment to us there is no need to worry. We know exactly what to do to package it properly and get it there safely.
Do This Before shipping a PC or laptop:
-Back up data on a removable drive or disk. -Remove ink cartridges and toner to prevent accidental spillage. Place them in a separate zip lock bag to include in the shipment. -Record make, model and serial number of the equipment. – Make sure power supplies and cables are present and accounted for functioning as appropriate.
